Gubi Beetle Dining Chair

• Designed in 2013 and admired by architects, art lovers and the public around the world. Its modern style, very comfortable seat and sturdy structure have won people over. • In keeping with the design philosophy, velvet is usually preferred for the upholstery. However, for the made-to-order version, different types of leather or fabric can be used.

What is the Beetle chair?

The Beetle chair was designed for Gubi in 2013 by the design studio GamFratesi, which was founded in 2006. GamFratesi was founded by the Danish architect Stine Gam and the Italian architect Enrico Fratesi.

GamFratesi has created many designs in pursuit of the modern, perfect chair. When GamFratesi designed the Beetle chair in 2013, it drew inspiration from nature. The hard outer shell of a beetle and its soft inner body form the philosophy behind this admired chair. For this reason, soft velvet is used for the upholstery. This is, in fact, the key to the chair's success. The metal legs likewise resemble beetle legs.

Gubi, founded in Copenhagen in 1967, has worked with GamFratesi for many years. In Gubi's philosophy, design is a task that is never finished, because everyone has a very close relationship with sitting. We spend most of our lives sitting; at home, we even fight over the most comfortable spot on the sofa.
